about us

We all seek solace from difficult thoughts and emotions which can overwhelm our experience from time to time.

Life can be hard, and difficult experiences are not a sign of failure but a sign that support is needed. We believe everyone has the strength to live the life they value and we are here to provide some skills and support along the way.

Solace psychology is a client focused psychology practice where we prioritise creating a judgement-free and comfortable therapeutic space for significant change to occur.

Solace Psychology values providing a high level of therapeutic skill and professionalism.  We are trained in Psychology and provide only evidence-based therapies. Our practice is LGBTIQA+ inclusive, culturally sensitive and trauma informed.

Allow us to support you today.

FAQ

How long is each session & how many sessions will i need?

Sessions last approximately 50 minutes.  The number of sessions depends on your goals in therapy. This can be discussed in the initial session.

what will therapy be like?

The first few sessions are based around assessment. Your psychologist will have some questions to get a good understanding of your difficulties, your life experiences and your goals for therapy. This is also a good opportunity for you to assess whether your psychologist is a good fit for you. Following the assessment, you will have a collaborative discussion with your psychologist on how to move forward with treatment.

what if it isn't the right fit?

After the first few sessions if you have any concerns or just feel that the relationship was not the right fit, your psychologist or our admin team will be happy to support you in suggesting other community groups, psychologists or ways forward.

fees

Our fees range from $120 with a Provisional Psychologist and $210- $265 per session with a Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist.

Although you do not require a referral to see a psychologist, a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP (also referred to as a Medicare referral) may entitle you to 10 sessions within a calendar year at a rebate from Medicare (ranging from $93 - $136).

Please see your GP, who will assess your eligibility for the Mental Health Care Plan.

The full fee is processed in session and the Medicare rebate is paid directly into your nominated bank account.

Private health rebates are also available depending on your level of cover.

I worked with Solace Psychology for four years before beginning my own private practice. It was such a wonderful space to launch a career as a psychologist. I worked as a consultant and worked independently, managing my own calendar, billing, communication with Medicare and with GPs etc. The organisation provided monthly supervision, room rental, client referrals, template letters, and an online booking and payment program. The supervision provided is both kind and intelligent. There is great flexibility and I was treated with warmth and respect.
— Former contractor (Clinical Psychologist)
Solace Psychology is a well-managed private practice that allows Sub Contractors almost complete autonomy over the choice and number of clients you work with. There are no stressful meetings with the practice manager about the number of cancellations or taking on new clients. The work is satisfying and the culture, relaxed.
— Current contractor (Clinical Psychologist)
